I Love Black & White Photography

I am a fine-art land­scape pho­to­grapher spe­cial­ising in tra­di­tional black-and-white sil­ver gelatin prints.

I like to use a large format film view cam­era, and I print all of my pho­to­graphs by hand, in my dark­room, using tech­no­logy that has not changed much in the last hun­dred years. I believe that a slow and involved cre­at­ive pro­cess gives me a more intim­ate insight into the com­plex­ity of the world.

My book, (Be)Longing, con­tains repro­duc­tions of twenty-four of my pho­to­graphs of the American Southwest. They focus on a feel­ing of a long­ing to belong to the beauty and serenity of oth­er­wise very for­bid­ding, deser­ted, and strange land­scapes. My expres­sion has been con­stantly inspired by the impact of nat­ur­ally occur­ing raw abstrac­tion on art and civilisation.
